Maintaining your springs will ensure your garage door lasts for longer. Garage door springs are responsible for lifting your garage door day every day, and are essential for a flawless garage door system. However sometimes springs can get rusted, stressed, and even break, which will push your garage door out of balance and can even destroy a garage door opener. We take pride in using the highest quality springs, so you can be sure issues will no longer arise
How do you know if your springs need to be replaced? When springs are in good working condition and the correct size, the garage door should balance properly. However, if you notice an unbalanced garage door, it could mean the springs are no longer functioning. What you can do at home is check the balance of the garage door:
Do not disconnect the garage door from the existing opener unless the door is in the down position or closed. If the door is not balanced properly, it could crash down and cause injury.
Once the garage is in the down position, pull the emergency release cord on the opener and disconnect it from the motor.
Lift your garage door to the midpoint, about halfway open and release it, however do not let it go if it feels heavy.
The door should sit in the middle position without going up or coming down. This means the door is balanced and the springs are doing the work of lifting, and the door is being operated by the garage door opener safely.
